Sangria Burgers

The wine, brandy and subtle orange flavour of these burgers will please adult palates. Top with slices of roasted sweet red pepper.
Ingredients
- 1/2 lb (250 g) lean ground beef
- 1/2 lb (250 g) lean ground pork
- 1/3 cup (75 mL) minced fresh coriander
- 3 tbsp (45 mL) dry red wine
- 2 tbsp (30 mL) Brandy
- 2 tbsp (30 mL) extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, pressed or minced
- 1 small onion, minced
- 1/2 tsp (2 mL) salt
- 1/4 tsp (1 mL) each cayenne and black pepper
- 1/4 tsp (1 mL) grated orange rind
Preparation
In bowl, mix together beef, pork, coriander, wine, brandy, oil, garlic, onion, salt, cayenne, pepper and orange rind. Form into 4 patties. Grill, covered and turning once, over medium-high heat until no longer pink inside or digital thermometer inserted sideways into centre reads 160F/71C. Makes 4 servings.
