Pear, Walnut and Blue Cheese Toasts

Ingredients
- 24 walnut halves (scant 1 cup/250 mL)
- 3 tbsp (45 mL) walnut oil or olive oil
- 1 tsp (5 mL) granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp (1 mL) salt
- Pinch each cayenne pepper, cinnamon and cloves
- 3-1/2 oz (100 g) blue cheese
- 24 Whole Wheat Baguette Toasts
- 1 Asian pear
Preparation
Toss walnuts with 1 tbsp/15 mL of the oil, sugar, salt, cayenne, cinnamon and cloves. Spread on baking sheet; roast in 325°F/160°C oven until toasted, about 15 minutes. Let cool.
Mash cheese with remaining oil until smooth. Spread thinly over each toast.
Peel, quarter and core pear; thinly slice each quarter lengthwise into 6 slices. Place over cheese; top with walnuts.
Makes 24 pieces.
