3 Summer Beauty Looks Expert Michelle Villet Loves
The beauty insider: Michelle Villett, a writer and the founder of the award-winning blog beautyeditor.ca
Why she digs her gig: "Besides the fact that I've got a lifetime supply of shampoo and mascara, the best part of my job is talking to top hairstylists and makeup artists. I love hearing about the next big trends before they go mainstream, and I inevitably pick up fantastic tips that change the way I do my hair and makeup and, therefore, help my readers as well."
The summer beauty looks Michelle will be trying:
1. Matching Lips and Tips
"Red lips were everywhere from Anna Sui to Jason Wu to YSL during the Spring 2012 shows, but my favourite interpretation was at Christian Dior, where the models wore bright poppy-red lipstick with matching nail polish and slightly rounded nails. Normally, that would be a look I'd associate with fall and winter, but a red lip for spring suddenly feels really fresh. I also love the idea of matching nails after so many seasons of dramatic nail art in clashing colours. It is, and makes me feel, very ladylike."
2. Bronze Eyes
"Celebrities such as Anna Kendrick, Olivia Munn, Ginnifer Goodwin and Jessica Paré are ditching the traditional smoky eye for shimmery bronze worn as a shadow on the upper lid or in a liner underneath the lower lashes. I love this look because it brings light to eyes and also emphasizes them without being overpowering. I find it's a lot easier to apply than having to struggle with darker colours."
3. The Sky-High Bun
"This is a red-carpet trend that emerged at the Oscars on Jennifer Lopez, Rooney Mara, Tina Fey and Shailene Woodley and was seen again at the recent Met Gala on Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Claire Danes and Jessica Stam. I love this look because it really brings out my eyes and can work with any hair type or texture. I'll try it both ways: loose and textured, as well as sleek and tight to the head."
