Turkish Yogurt Drink

This simple yogurt drink, called ayran in Turkish, is a refreshing and healthy beverage served with meals.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup  (250 mL)  reduced-fat (2%) or full-fat yogurt
  • 6 ice cubes or 1/2 cup/125 mL crushed ice
  • 1/2 cup  (125 mL)  water
  • 1/4 tsp  (1 mL)  salt

Preparation

In blender, blend yogurt, ice, water and salt until smooth and frothy. Makes 2 servings.

Variations
Add a pinch of black pepper.

Replace water with soda water for a lightly fizzy drink.

Replace half of the water with 3/4 cup/175 mL cubed peeled and seeded cucumber.
