Cranberries are tart, but their health benefits are sweet indeed. With just 46 calories, 1 cup/250 mL of cranberries supplies a fabulous 4.6 grams of fibre. While offering some vitamin C, it's their phytonutrients that give these berries a stellar reputation.
Possibly through interactions of their various compounds, cranberries pack a potent arsenal of anticancer weapons, which may not only inhibit the growth of cancerous tumours but also the spread of breast, colon and lung cancers. If that's not enough to make you pucker up, cranberries are also a super source of anti-oxidants and cholesterol-lowering compounds.
