But yoga is more than just fancy workout wear -- more, even, than just a workout. It's a great way to boost your mental and physical health along many fronts. 1. Increased bone density
Weight-bearing exercise is well known to fight osteoporosis, or bone degeneration, since it helps bones rebuild themselves. Standing yoga poses (or asanas) are good for the bones of the legs and hips; various other poses -- by fighting gravity or offering resistance to different muscle groups -- can provide similar kinds of benefits.
